Last night, Stacy & Mia were grinding at a frat party. Today, they’re roommates. When class and codependence clash in just 120 square feet, what could “boundaries” possibly look like? STACY & MIA asks whether it’s possible not to air your dirty laundry when you’re literally living in it.

DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

Stacy & Mia was developed through a series of ten-minute plays from January through September 2017 at Otterbein University, the Kraine Theater, the New Light Theater Project Darkroom 13 at the Access Theater, the Theatre at St. Clement’s, and the Hudson Guild Theater. Casts included Natalie Szczerba, Lauren Kent, Caylie Rose Newcom, Mason Smajstrla, Tori Hidalgo, Asel Swango, Brittany Baltay, Samantha Prentice, Rebecca Schafer, Emma Shine & Alyssa Samuelson. Evan Moore-Coll directed all of the ten-minute plays.

Stacy & Mia was workshopped with the Williamstown Apprentice Company at the Williamstown Theater Festival in August 2019. Reagan Seiler read for Stacy and Ema Zivkovic read for Mia. Esther M. Cohen directed the reading.

Stacy & Mia was selected as a semi-finalist for Normal Ave’s NAPSeries 2020.

Stacy & Mia had a sold-out workshop production at The Tank in NYC on February 29 & March 1, 2020. Stacy & Mia was developed with and directed by Esther M. Cohen. The workshop was movement & intimacy directed by Ema Zivkovic and produced by Ezra Brain with design by Vincent Gunn and projections by Joey Mervis. The production featured Kate Berg as Stacy and Nina Roy as Mia. The production received an Independent Residency with the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center for rehearsals in late February 2020, culminating in a performance for the National Theater Institute - Spring 2020 Class.

A virtual reading of Stacy & Mia was a part of The Tank’s PRIDEFest 2020. The reading was streamed on July 15, 2020. The reading was directed by Ema Zivkovic. It featured Kate Berg as Stacy and Savannah Dukes as Mia.

Stacy & Mia had a workshop with The Strides Collective as a part of their Fall 2021 Emerging Playwrights Workshop. The workshop featured Faye Telemaco-Beane and Rita Castagna. The workshop was directed by Chamari White-Mink with stage management by Carri Yeager and design consulting from Luca Bonacci.

Stacy & Mia had a virtual reading on September 28, 2023, directed by Emily Abrams and produced by Historically Close Friends (Burlington, VT). The reading featured Vanessa Vivas and Hope Johansen.
