Battle of the Books

Inspired by their ultra-competitive final round in last year’s Battle of the Books competition, Harper & Amelia are determined to lead their teams to victory this year. However, when their personal lives invade their practices, their books come to life, and a secret society bans their list of books, the teams must fight to keep the competition going.

Battle of the Books has been awarded with the Excellence in Playwriting Award by the New Hampshire Theatre Alliance for the 2026 Production at Andy’s Summer Playhouse.

DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

Battle of the Books debuted at Andy’s Summer Playhouse in Wilton, NH, from July 25 - August 2, 2025. The production featured a cast of 22 young theatermakers directed by Emily Bubeck. The production was stage managed by Matthew McCarthy, Mickey McNiss, & Josie Dumont, with set design by Nick Hahn, lighting design by Peter Liebold, and sound & projections design by Emery Frost.

Battle of the Books had a workshop production with New Albany High School in Ohio on October 17 & 18, 2025. Elliott Lemberg directed the production, which featured 18 students.

Battle of the Books was a Semifinalist for the New Hampshire Theatre Alliance’s 2026 New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Youth Production at Andy’s Summer Playhouse.
